Senior Consultant (North West)

As part of the expansion of my client's business they are looking to appoint several consultants to assist with the current workload in this business and thereafter develop the work enquiries they have now and in the future. You would be part of the future development of the business in providing commercial and contractual advice services to clients in the locality and clients on a global basis.

Ideal applicants should have a minimum of five years post graduate experience in quantity surveying or cost engineering gained from a contracting or engineering environment coupled to demonstrable first hand experience of civil engineering, utilities, oil & gas or power industry sectors and, ideally those that have construction claims experience. Alternatively considered would be those with a similar background who perhaps have not had the first hand experience but instead have gone on to either undertake or have achieved a secondary construction legal qualification to gain better knowledge of our niche field. In either case what is essential is a genuine desire coupled to the aptitude to be involved in the construction claims preparations and litigation process whilst still having the hunger to develop your knowledge of the construction process on a first hand basis. This opportunity requires the flexibility to travel as the clients this office deals with are internationally based thus UK wide or overseas assignments are pert of the role.

Duties and responsibilities would include:

  • The provision of high quality and efficient services to clients
  • Preparation of high quality claims, responses, advice, reports, presentations etc.
  • Liaising with clients and their legal teams and assisting in the provision of services to clients.
  • Participating in and in raising the industry profile of the client’s business and services.
  • Participating in and contributing to seminars, external training and in-house training for clients
  • Participating in and contributing to the publication of learned articles.
  • Undertaking such courses and training (whether internal or external) as the client thinks relevant

In return is the opportunity to work with an unrivalled peer group. Those wishing to or currently undertaking an appropriate secondary construction legal qualification will receive funding for the course, coupled to a comprehensive benefits package including car allowance, pension, healthcare, overtime where client authorised and a performance related bonus of which few of our true competitors can match through discretionary schemes. Thereafter once you reach an agreed level of autonomy and competency, comes the opportunity to manage and develop your own clients and work with full technical support from a global claims business.
